Ancient Greek History Collection

Description

The roots of history, both as a record and as a science, lie in ancient Greece, in the works of Herodotus, Thucydides, and Xenophon. Much of what we know about ancient Greek history is also owed to them and to those who continued their work up to the time of the Roman conquests—including Arrian, Polybius, Diodorus Siculus, and others.

The “Ancient Greek History” series brings together all the known works of Ancient Greek literature, comprising a total of 47 volumes, which include the works of the great historians:

• Herodotus, Histories Α’-Θ’, 9 volumes
• Thucidides, Histories Α’-Η’, 8 volumes
• Xenophon, Hellenica, Anabasis of Cyrus, 5 volumes
• Arrian, Anabasis of Alexander, 4 volumes
• Callisthenes, Life of Alexander the Macedonian, 1 volume
• Diodorus Siculus: Bibliotheca Historica, 8 volumes (Volumes 6–13)
• Polybius, Histories, Books I–XLIX, 11 volumes
• Hellenica Oxyrhynchia, Rare Fragments, 1 volume

Each volume includes the original ancient text, a modern Greek translation, and an introduction and/or commentary.
